How we make money

Sumly's tools and guides are free to use. We pay for them in two ways: advertising and affiliate links. Here is what that means for you.

Advertising

Some pages show adverts, served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies to show ads based on your interests. You can read how cookies are used, and how to change your choices, on our cookies page. You can also manage ad personalisation in your Google ad settings.

Affiliate links

Some links on Sumly are affiliate links. If you click one and then buy something or sign up, we may earn a commission from that company. You pay the same price either way.

We label pages that contain affiliate links near the top of the page.

How we keep things independent

  • Calculators come first. Our tools work out the numbers the same way whether or not we earn anything from the result.
  • No paid rankings. Companies cannot pay to appear higher in our tools or guides.
  • We show our sources. Every price or figure we use links to where it came from, with the date we last checked it.
  • We correct mistakes. If you spot something wrong, tell us and we will fix it.

Not financial advice

Sumly gives general information and estimates to help you plan. It is not personal financial advice. For decisions about borrowing, investing, pensions or debt, speak to a regulated adviser. Free, impartial help is available from MoneyHelper.

Who runs Sumly
